life is short. i’m a firm believer that you do your best work when you’re having a good time.

this is why we tell kids “follow your dreams.” passion is stamina. it gets you through really hard days. passion wakes you up when nothing is working and creates an internal energy, a force, to make this work.

the source of the fountain of youth? fun. the source of infinite willpower? fun.

work with your favorite people. create beauty in places of beauty. befriend your customers. push yourself to edge of your ability, fall off the cliff of your current understanding, because its fun.

i remember hitting the edge of reality, visiting a borgesian pit of despair, seeing a far away light and feeling perspective hit my face. freedom it told me, is not to be taken for granted. the world is a beautiful place, it said. you ought to experience it while you can, it said. dramatic i know.

so when i was to have a new adventure, i told myself it has to be fun. otherwise what’s the point?

we push our minds until they hurt from the joy of expansion. we make stupid jokes and have fits of laughter. we go to new places figuratively and literally. conversations are somehow opinionated and mind-reading simultaneously.

if look yourself in the eyes are you having fun? are you really having fun.
